Metrobus says goodbye to Forestdale bus routes
A BUS company which began in Forestdale almost 30 years ago is finally saying goodbye to the area.
Metrobus Ltd was formed with a small fleet of six buses operating routes linking Forestdale with Croydon and Orpington in 1983.
The 353, 355 and 357 were well used in Forestdale, as was the 354 and T33 in Selsdon, but Metrobus announced this week that its contract with Transport for London had ended and it would no longer be running its buses on those routes.
Luke Taylor, infrastructure officer at Metrobus, said: "May 18 marked our last day of operation on route T33.

"And as we say goodbye to the areas that started our operation nearly 30 years ago we would like to mark the occasion by thanking all our drivers, controllers and staff, both past and present, who have helped us to build the company into what it is today.
"For the current drivers who have moved with route T33 from the weekend, we would like to make a special mention for all your hard work over the years in making the service what it is today and wish you all the best for the future.
"I used the Selsdon buses myself when I was a lad and that's why I wanted this job; it is definitely the end of an era."
The routes are being taken over by London Bus Network.
