Form suggested that this would be an even contest with both teams posting some great results this season.
Jack Rulton's Afternoon Delight kicked off and was confident of the outcome; "we will definitely come away with the points" he said, we would soon see if it would be true.
The game started tentatively with A Team making the running, especially Olly who was keen to show off his back heels and flicks - unfortunately these didn't come off but we love a trier :).
On a cold night, 3 stingers in a row hitting the defenders, had the crowd wincing from between the netting. With no team taking the advantage, but both probing their opposition for the weakest link.
The break through came after 10 minutes when on loan signing Oms, managed to miss a sitter from 7 yards and an open goal, before seconds later showing his class with a lovely turn and shot into the bottom corner for 1-0 Afternoon Delight.
The goal brought the game to life with A team determined not to let the match get away from them and bringing some excellent saves from the Delight keeper and captain, Jack. Olly and Alfie also narrowly missed before Delight caught them on the counter for 2 nil.
2 nil became 3 fairly quickly whilst A Team were still reeling, however they recovered their composure to pull back the deficit by 1 with a great strike intot he bottom corner.
Delight hit another for 4-1, however the scoreline did not reflect the performance happening on the pitch, and A Team were continually pressurising the Delight defence with some slick pass and move stuff.
Half time drew in at 4-1, could A Team give Arsenal a run in the come back stakes??
Unfortunately not on this occasion, Delight took to the pitch as they had finished the first half, in devastating form. Despite a spirited attempt, A Team eventually lost 7-4 to a very good Delight side, who should see promotion through this season and trouble some of the teams in the higher leagues.
Once again a great Monday night match, played competitively but in a respectful way.
