CROYDON is to hold its very own version of the World Cup.

Less than a week after the winners of the official tournament have been crowned in South Africa, the summer's second biggest football bonanza will begin.

The Advertiser is officially supporting the All Nations Football Festival, which will be held in Lloyd Park in July.

Organisers of the joint Croydon Council and Crystal Palace FC contest are now searching for players to represent each of the 32 nations involved in the World Cup.

You do not have to be from North Korea or Honduras to take part, with each team who enters assigned a country to play for, regardless of nationality.

The free to enter six-a-side tournament kicks off on July 17, with an under-12s boys' and girls' contest from 10am to 2pm.

Each youngster who takes part will also receive a free ticket to Crystal Palace's friendly against Chelsea that evening.

A day later, it is the turn of the senior teams, with separate tournaments for both men and women between 10am and 3pm.

The deadline to register a team for the competition is July 12.

If you would like to take part call Jenny Bourke at Crystal Palace on 020 8768 6047.
