'Nazi salute' photographer writes letter of apology
THE former Wetherspoon's pub photographer who posted the 'Nazi salute' picture on the Croydon bar's official Facebook page has written a letter of apology.
Kal Patel, 27, was working as a freelance photographer for the Wetherspoon chain's Lloyds No. 1 bar (The Milan Bar) on Croydon High Street when he uploaded a picture apparently showing revellers giving the gesture.

Mr Patel, who had been working at The Milan Bar for three years, has now been told the Wetherspoon chain will no longer require his services.
Last week Mr Patel, of London Road in Croydon, told the Croydon Advertiser the picture had been a mistake, and was the worst moment of his career.
Below, Mr Patel's letter is published in full.
Dear readers,
I would like to take this opportunity to apologise sincerely for the posting of the indecent photograph on the Facebook page of Lloyds Bar, Croydon. I am deeply sorry and take full responsibility for my action, which is not the fault of the venue in any way.
There are many contributing factors, but in the end it is I who must shoulder the responsibility for much of what has happened. In short, I posted the photograph online without being fully aware of the seriousness of the gesture made by the individuals.
It was never my intention to cause distress and hurt for anyone in public, directly or indirectly. I now realise the consequences of my actions and its effect on those who are affected by the gesture.
Words cannot express how truly sorry I am for the anxiety, frustration and inconvenience that the picture caused to the readers and their family, friends and colleagues
Nothing is more important than regaining your trust. I hope that you will give me the opportunity to once again provide you with the professionalism, respect and quality that you deserve, and that I strive to provide.
Sincerely,
Kal Patel
