THE drive to find local jobs for local people on the new council offices development in Fell Road is continuing.

Four sub-contractors working on the Croydon Council Urban Regeneration Vehicle project have given full-time jobs to eight people after they completed a pre-employment work experience scheme.

Two of the successful candidates David Noakes, 24, from Croydon and Dorian Scott-Francis, 23, from Upper Norwood have spoken about the opportunities opened up for them.

Mr Noakes, who has been taken on by Focchi Ltd, which is designing, manufacturing and installing the project's curtain walling, said: "The pre-employment scheme has provided me with the basic skills on which to build a career."

Mr Scott-Francis has been taken on as a labourer with MPG, the company working on both the internal and external construction of the building.
