A CARE home which was threatened with closure after inspectors found it was not safeguarding its mentally ill patients has changed its name and started afresh.

Last year the Advertiser reported how The Ashwood Centre, based in Outram Road, was warned it could face financial penalties and even a closure order after inspectors from the Care Quality Commission paid a visit and deemed it as 'failing' last August.

But now the home, which has been renamed The London Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre (LTRC), has completed a U-turn, receiving a glowing report from the same inspectors who visited around nine months ago.

The 34-bed hospital which provides care, treatment and rehabilitation for male and female patients has been found to be fully compliant in all of the necessary requirements following an inspection in May.
