Nolan the highest finisher for Croydon Harriers
CROYDON Harriers' young athletes enjoyed six top 50 positions at the South of England cross-country championships at Stanmer Park in Brighton, writes Matthew Kiernan.
Dom Nolan was the club's highest finisher, finishing 15th in the U17s men's race. Peter Chambers was 27th in the same category after nursing an injury.

The other top 50 performances came from Holly Haile (U15s girls, 27th), Josh Haasz (U15s boys, 38th), Charlie Brackenborough (U13s boys, 48th) and Stevie Lawrence (U15s girls, 50th).
Further support came from Omar Harhara (U13s boys, 64th), Rob Spalding (U15s boys, 171st), Josie Kavanagh (U13s girls, 65th) and Ellie McCormack (U13s girls, 175th).
In the showpiece nine-mile men's race, the club enjoyed their best result in the competition since 2004, finishing 52nd overall.
David White (146th, 58:01) led the squad home in the 750-strong field, with Colin Oxlade (382nd, 66:13), Martin Rowe (435th, 68:07), Neil Aikman (457th, 69:00), Andy Del Nevo (531st, 71:39) and David Brown (562nd, 72:58) completing the team. There were a further five non-scorers.
In ParkRun action, 12 year-old Abbie Burrett become the first ever Croydon Harrier to complete 100 ParkRuns after reaching the milestone at Roundshaw Downs.
In the race itself Patrick Lucas won by over two minutes in 18:01 and Sam Clayton picked up his ninth win at the Lloyd Park event.
At the London Indoor Games at Lee Valley, Shirin Irving clocked 8.76secs in the 60m hurdles. She is ranked joint first in the event for the U17s women's age group.
