Burley hoping Danns and Speroni wll commit to Palace
PALACE boss George Burley is hoping Julian Speroni and Neil Danns will follow Darren Ambrose's lead and commit their long-term futures to the club.
Ambrose ended weeks of speculation linking him with a move to Queens Park Rangers by signing a fresh three-year contract on Monday.
New captain Paddy McCarthy has also recently penned a new deal and Burley is hopeful that the other key members of his squad will now do the same.
Contracts have been offered to three times Player of the Year Speroni and attacking midfielder Danns.
"Offers have been made to the pair of them and it is an on going process," said Burley. "We are trying to build for the long-term and we believe getting these players signed on new deals is an important part of the process.
"We're working on getting new players in as well. We're trying to build a good squad of players."
Elsewhere, Burley has reiterated his firm stance on Birmingham target Nathaniel Clyne.
The teenager returned to the Palace squad yesterday after England U19s were knocked out of the European Championships by Spain in the semi-finals on Tuesday. It is unlikely he will feature in tonight's friendly at Brentford but Burley still insists that he will remain at Selhurst Park.
"He's a Crystal Palace player. There will be speculation from the Premier League because he is an excellent young prospect, there's nothing we can do about it," he said. "He's back with us and I'm looking forward to working with him. I don't think he'll feature on Friday, but he'll be a big part of things next week."
