IN a bid to reduce congestion and ease safety fears, the council is considering a parking ban outside the Old Palace School annex in Melville Road, South Croydon.

Parents are parking within the law on a single yellow line before 9am but both police and the council believe they are nevertheless creating problems.

To solve the problem the council is suggesting painting double yellow lines in Melville Avenue.

Initial consultation with residents has resulted in backing for the idea and the next stage is to put the proposals out to formal consultation.
