POLICE APPEAL: Officers want to trace a man who tried to lure a schoolgirl into his van
A driver who tried to lure a schoolgirl into his van in Sanderstead is being hunted by police.
Officers are appealing for information in relation to the incident that took place in Wentworth Way, Sanderstead, at around 3.30pm on Monday, July 20.
The 12-year-old girl was walking along when she was called to by a male driving a white van.
The man, who is described as white, aged about 25, clean shaven and with a shaved head, drove slowly alongside the girl as she walked towards Limpsfield Road asking her to get into the van.
He followed the girl when she started to run but stopped his vehicle near the junction with Limpsfield Road and started to get out.
However, another vehicle drove by and the van driver then drove off into Limpsfield Road and away.
Police are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have seen this van either before or afterwards.
DC Brad Stow said: "We're particularly keen to find out who the driver of the van was and would advise young people in the area not to talk to strangers."
Anybody with information should call DC Stow, Croydon CID on 020 8649 0139 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 111 555.

“It has to result in a murder, or something else serious...before anything really gets done. we have been waiting 2 months, for our attackers to be found, and the DNA evidence they have has still not come back from the lab, even though we have been told they have found fingerprints on the item. And cctv has showed the faces of 2 of the suspects...And im curious to know why the cctv pictures have not been made public, so that people may see what they look like, and we might find out who did it...no wonder this place is running alive with criminals, who just keep breaking the law..time and time again until someone gets killed.”

“how many people can remember a white van from last week let alone a month ago. clearly the detectives on this case need help (retraining/training).Can see why croydon has the lowest clear up rates on most things. poor child looks like she has to resign herself to being a victim with no justice like the rest of us. while the man roams sunny croydon for his next victim”

“I expect the reason its taken the police so long to appeal for information is because they've only just responded to the 999 call...”

“One month later? Someone who saw at the time is likely to have a very poor recolection now. Having said that hope they catch this person.”

“Why the delay? Should this not have been put into the public domain almost a month ago?”
