RECENTLY installed club president Chris King chaired the club's annual presentation dinner at Trinity School last Friday.

This was the first formal occasion for King, a long-time Harriers' servant as athlete, official and coach, as president.

He made the presentations to the many club champions in attendance, assisted by retiring President Ricky Toomey.

In addition to these, the club's top annual award, the Jack Lisney Memorial Salver, went to hard-working Colin Oxlade.

A special film accolade was shown and presentation made to retiring chairman and past president Don Webb. Delighted Webb, who joined Croydon Harriers 60 years ago, was presented with an engraved tankard.

The president's awards for outstanding clubmanship went to Neil Aikmann and Cora Sexton.

Special best performance awards went to, for the men, 400m runner Martyn Rooney and U21 Lawrence Okoye, who broke the national discus record last season, and, for the women, sprinter Twinelle Hopeson and U18 multi-eventer Shirin Irving.

The Advertiser's MadDecathlete, Ian Lamont, received the club's men's decathlon award.

His year-long training to compete at the Surrey Championships resulted in raising nearly £1,200, split between St Katharine's Church Tower Appeal and Merstham Cricket Club's pavilion extension project.
