A WOMAN accused of hurling racist abuse at tram passengers is to appear at crown court.

A video of mother-of-two Emma West, 34, apparently abusing black, Asian and Polish passengers while holding her four-year-old son has been watched by more than 11 million people since it was posted on YouTube on November 27.

West, of Grenville Road, New Addington, appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday) charged with two racially aggravated public order offences following the incident on October 18.

This included a new charge of intent to cause fear or provocation of violence after a passenger, Ena-May Eubanks, said West hit her on the shoulder with a "closed fist" which was "enough to push her off balance".

West, wearing a pink cardigan and black trousers, gave no indication of her plea but opted for the charged to be dealt with at crown court.

Magistrate Ian Hornby granted bail on the condition that West lives and sleeps at her home address, does not travel on a tram within Croydon and Sutton, and does not comment on the case, particularly on social networks.

Once again the court was packed with members of the British National Party, including former Croydon Central parliamentary candidate Clifford Le May, who have hijacked her case to support their cause.

West will next appear at Croydon Crown Court on February 17.
