LORD Ramsbotham, the former chief inspector of prisons, showed Royal Russell School students around the House of Lords this week.

He organised seats for them during Question Time and then spent an hour talking about the work of the Lords and answering students' questions.

The students particularly enjoyed seeing the small room where Guy Fawkes was caught during the failed gunpowder plot.

They also got the chance to walk down the lobby to the House of Lords and watched the opening procession of the Mace and Lord Speaker.
