Prince Edward will be visiting Croydon this evening to watch the London Mozart Players' 60th anniversary concert.

The Earl of Wessex will be enjoying the dulcet tones of Rossini, Mozart and Mendlessohn - to name a few - at the Fairfield Halls.

He has been the orchestra's patron since 1990 and has actively supported it at concerts in the UK and on tours abroad, as well as assisting with the orchestra's fundraising activities.

The concert also marks the orchestra's 20th anniversary of residence in Croydon.

Performers on the night include pianist Howard Shelley, violinist Isabelle van Keulen and soprano Dame Felicity Lott.

It will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on March 27 as part of its special week-long focus on the London Mozart Players, the UK's longest established chamber orchestra.
