IT'S that time of the year when we are bombarded by transfer rumours; a handful of them true, the majority made up by bored journalists.

So I thought I would get in on the act and start a few of my own, and see if they get picked up by the transfer mill, which is about to go into overdrive.

1) Released Palace striker Calvin Andrew is being lined up by Barcelona as back-up for injured David Villa.

The Spain striker had to sit out the whole of Euro 2012 after breaking his leg last season and now the Catalans are keen to get some quality back-up as the new season looms.

"We couldn't believe Palace released Calvin and that he'll be available on a free transfer," said a source from the Nou Camp.

The 25-year-old was deemed too good for the Eagles and was allowed to walk away from the club this summer, after a career that saw him score three goals in 66 games.

Mainly because he couldn't be bothered to lower himself to Palace's level and not because he was a lumbering fool who couldn't trap a bag of cement.

2) Kayla the Eagle, the real life bird of prey that flies across the pitch at Selhurst as the teams emerge from the pitch, is wanted by Benfica in the Portuguese top division.

Benfica are also known as the Eagles and are keen to replace current mascot Pedro the Hawk who has been under-performing in recent games.

A deal is said to potentially be scuppered by Kayla's handler Chris refusing to accept terms from the Portuguese club because "Portugal doesn't have EastEnders".

3) Palace midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi is to launch his own brand of weight loss pills.

They are to be called 'Legen-weight for it-dary Pills' and will be available in the Selhurst Park club shop for £19.99.

4) Highly rated Croydon Advertiser columnist James Daly is wanted by a host of national dailies after starring for the local newspaper over the past few months.

Officials at the Independent are said to have been impressed by his witty, insightful and thought-provoking columns and are ready to offer the local lad an impressive deal.

But sources close to him believe he wants to remain loyal to the Advertiser, turning down some huge offers from some of the nation's biggest newspapers.

The saga is expected to run all summer.

“Lofty thanks for the ratings i do not care if people give me a minus rating, i just wish they would say why they have done it. As i stated in my earlier posts it is my opinion if people don't agree i am not bothered, all i ask is that they state their opinion as to why they disagree, is that to much to ask.”

“There's a rumour going round after England's performance on Sunday, Palace re going to sign Andy Carroll, Ashley Young & when Ashley gets us a penalty Ashley Cole is going to take them, Carroll, Young & Scott Parker played as they did not want to be there, Parker at one time gave away a free kick turned his back on the ball and walked away with his head down when he should have been making his way back to the defence, He had only taken two steps when the ball passsed him and he made no effort to chase after the ball. Carrol cannot pass even when gaps appeared for a through ball looks like a Palace player, And Young could not even get pass his marker.”

    “Bernie2312,
this site is Luis`s life, he waits all day long for a comment, then he gets excited when his finger directs the mouse onto the red minus arrow, the Coward never replies to the comment, because Luis is a Gutless Little Worm.
Luis, mentioning signings, has Tunchev signed yet?”

“This sort of article appeals to me because some people on this site take things to seriously and believe everything they read. People should go and buy every sunday newspaper and compare the latest exclusive stories in football none of them ever agree with each other, they are all as bad as each other and the agents who plant the stories are only out to feather their own nest's. I personally don't believe things until i see a picture of a person actually signing, unless i read it somewhere ?.”
