SUTTON Schools Borough U11s eventually came out on top in this Sydney Black League clash between the top two teams in Surrey at Mill Lane last Saturday, ending Croydon's unbeaten run.

In a tight and goalless first half, neither side was able to gain the upper hand with Croydon having more possession but Sutton defending resolutely.

In the second half, Sutton began to turn the screw and took the lead when Noah Vezzu's free-kick was scrambled in by Tommy Hicks. Croydon did mount a response but with keeper Robert Feeley in fine form and the back four of Jeevan, Morcombe, McGee and Hopper rock solid, Sutton kept a clean sheet for the second week running and grabbed all the points. South West Trains Sutton player of the match with another outstanding display in midfield was Noah Vezzu.

Sutton play Barking & Dagenham this Saturday in the Gills Shield (11.15am).
