Secret Drinker - Croham Arms, South Croydon
It's funny how something you pass every day can go completely unnoticed.
One day while racking brains to think of a new watering hole, someone suggested SD try Croham Arms.

Croham Arms, Croham Arms... SD knew it rang a bell but just couldn't remember why.
Until someone described its location and SD realised it was the huge pub walked past twice every day on the way to and from work.
So yes, it did seem about time SD paid it a visit, and so popped in for a quick drink.
SD is a bit ashamed to say this was the first ever visit to a pub in such close proximity.
And so it was a bit of a surprise that the inside wasn't larger - but no matter, lots of windows meant a nice, bright pub.
Staff were friendly and as there were only a few customers on this lunchtime, SD and friend didn't have a long wait at the bar.
There is no food served at the Croham Arms but SD was helpfully informed it was fine to bring in a sandwich from a local deli.
Settling into a window booth, SD observed the surroundings in this cosy local.
Croham Arms has TVs which SD assumed were for sports, a juke box and games machines.
A dart board on the wall is accompanied by a chalk board which gave the impression there might be a darts competition.
The bar is in the centre of the pub and takes up a lot of the room, but this means there is lots of space at the bar.
Drinks are well stocked, with a good choice of wine for a smaller pub.
Outside, Croham Arms is a cheerful pub to look at with flower baskets and outdoor tables.
SD resolved to come back more often instead of just passing by.
