Old Georgians 1 Sanderstead 7

SANDERSTEAD captain Martin Avery hailed the "quality" of his side after they thrashed Old Georgians' third XI to maintain their 100 per cent record this season.

Avery scored one of the goals himself in a victory that put the league leading Millers six points clear of their nearest rivals, with Georgians only able to score a late consolation.

He said: "We know that to be successful in this league and win promotion we must play to a consistently high standard, so I'm really pleased to see such quality from the team throughout the 70 minutes.

"It's a shame that we conceded late on, especially as Dan Pacitti in goal didn't have a save to make all game, but this does not take away from our performance."

From the outset the Millers displayed excellent interplay and incisive passing. Chris O'Hagan set up Richard Bruce for the opener, playing a defence-splitting ball from 20 yards to the back post where Bruce applied a clinical finish. Denzil Dolley made it 2-0, jinking through the tackles to flick neatly into the roof of the Georgians' goal.

Emit Raja saw his drag-flick saved but striker Mark Hunnisett followed up to make it 3-0, before Dolley bagged his brace in a one-on-one.

In the second half, ruthless Sanderstead scored a fifth through Hunnisett from close range after John Devaney drew a save from the keeper.

Avery struck a clean shot at a short corner for 6-0 and the Millers saved their best goal until last with Dolley's disguised pass finding Charlie Vening at the edge of the circle for a superb swept finish into the top corner. Georgians' consolation denied Sanderstead a clean sheet.
