PALACE number one Julian Speroni is confident the Eagles can return from their next two tough away fixtures with a decent haul of points.

Paul Hart's side travel to play-off chasing Blackpool on Saturday and Nottingham Forest three days later.

Scunthorpe's 3-0 loss at Newcastle last night ensured Palace remain fourth from bottom, outside of the drop zone on goal difference.

With Tuesday night's disappointing defeat to Leicester still fresh in the memory Speroni is keen to get back on the pitch and begin a concerted climb away from the foot of the Championship table.

"Sometimes I think it is tougher at home than it is away because of the pressure and expectation of the fans," said the South American shot stopper. "They want to see us winning and playing well like we were, and that can affect the players performance.

"These next two games are tough but we will try to get every point that we can.

"We go with the mentality of always trying to win the game and if we can't do that to do our best to get something from the match."

Despite the Eagles disappointing form Speroni remains convinced his team can overcome their current troubles and beat the drop.

"I am still really confident that we can get out of it," he said. "If we were going for the play-offs and playing good football just a few weeks ago then why should we not be good enough to avoid relegation?"
