Supermarket evacuated after smoke from car fire pours into store

CALLED OUT: Firefighters outside the Somerfield store
A supermarket has been evacuated after smoke started pouring into the store from a car fire.
The vehicle was ablaze in a basement car park close to the Somerfield store in London Road, West Croydon.
When smoke started coming through the vents of the store shoppers were asked to leave.
Firefighters from Croydon and Norbury fire stations were called to the scene, at around 7.30pm this evening (Tuesday) to tackle the blaze.
