Surrey Heights: Good or bad for Croydon?
SURREY Heights reality show has been dubbed Croydon's answer to TOWIE.
The show, which is currently casting, is due to start filming in June.
Amelody Productions said the show will be more glamorous and real than The Only Way is Essex and Made in Chelsea, but 'chavs' have been banned.
"Characters in other reality shows are all very similar but we want to show how diverse Croydon is and have lots of different characters," Amelody Productions' Aimee Butcher previously told the Croydon Advertiser.

“Oh lets get real ........ they interviewed - in a nightclub! True, this was open to all - but really? Wouldn't they have got a better cross-section applying had they advertised and held them somewhere along the High Street.
Should anyone particularly worry about long-term negative results - I doubt it. Programmes (like I have a feeling this one will be) of this ilk are like yesterdays newspapers for your fish & chips.”

“This type of show isn't my cup of tea, but no doubt the production company will want to pick people who will be popular with the demographic they are targeting. Portraying Croydon as a dump or its residents as idiots won't give them a long-running series. If anything, it is probably likely to give Croydon a slightly better reputation among the people who end up watching the show. It will probably also do wonders for any shops/bars/restaurants featured. So, right now I'd like to think it will be a good thing that might actually bring some life back to Croydon.”

“I guess the point is to drag Croydon down into a bigger hole than it is at present.
All for the sake of making a production company richer on the back of attempting to raise some poor deluded sole to a better thought of themselves or that they are interesting, that is the con which is a big shame as there are good people in this borough, but to be dragged down with cheap laughs under the umbrella of a documentary soap is a sado! lets face up to this it is a poor advert of Croydon and the young of the borough.
In saying this i will be watching probably cringing with embarrassment, with that i still believe it will have a big negative effect...
