CROYDON Harriers and Trinity School pair Andrew Fanthorpe and Peter Chambers were running in Surrey gold last weekend at the English Schools Cross Country Championships in Heaton Park, Manchester.

Fanthorpe helped the Surrey team to a second-place finish in the junior boys event. Chambers, hampered by a cold, did not manage to score in the intermediate boys race.

Elsewhere, Croydon Harriers' Joshua Haas was 10th in the Banstead Woods Time Trial and David Brown posted a fine time of 1hr 23mins 15 secs in the Hastings Half Marathon as he prepares for the London Marathon next month.
