Horsham 2 Sutton United 1

A MUCH-CHANGED Sutton side saw their interest in this season's Ryman League Cup ended on Tuesday night at Horsham's Gorings Mead ground.

Only two of the starting line-up from the FA Cup defeat to Hereford remained, Bradley Thomas and James Hawes, as Sutton gave their younger players a chance.

U's were off to a flier as Danny Phillips put them in front after only four minutes, finding space as the ball broke to him in the penalty area to fire into the net.

But the game turned midway through the first half as Alex Haddow struck a superb dipping volley from 25 yards for the equaliser.

Goalkeeper Paul Smith had little chance with that, but seven minutes later was more culpable as he got himself in to a mess trying to deal with a backpass and was dispossessed by Gary Charman, who squared the ball for Jack Page to roll it into the empty net.
