THE 17-year-old girl killed in a car crash in the early hours of this morning (Saturday) has been named by friends as Caylah Stevens.

The car she was in crashed into a telegraph pole at 3.15am in Overbury Crescent, New Addington.

The teenager, who is believed to be a former pupil of Charles Darwin School, in Biggin Hill, died at the scene.

Another passenger and the driver, both female, were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver has since been arrested.

Friends have been paying tribute to Caylah this morning on Facebook.

Jodie Wray wrote "Rest in peace, angel" adding that Caylah was a lovely girl who was always smiling.

Charlotte Lee wrote: "R.I.P babes. Can't believe you have gone, still can't get over it. I'm going to miss you so much. You were like a sister to me, why did they have to take you so young?"

And Nicola Wheadon added: "I only heard this morning when I woke up, I can't actually believe you are gone.

"I was only talking to you the day before.

"I remember you from all the way in primary school, when we were in Year 1. I will never forget you. Rest in peace."

Police have appealed for information about the crash.

A police spokesman said: "Officers were called at 3:15am to reports of a car in collision with a telegraph pole.

"Police and London Ambulance Service attended and a 17-year old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.

"The driver and another passenger, both females, have been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"The driver has been arrested in connection with the incident.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Collision Investigation Unit at Catford Traffic Garage on 020 8285 1574."
