The Joy of Politics

Premiering in Croydon before it sets out on a national tour is this fast-paced, quick-witted comedy.

Anyone who loves Yes, Minister or The New Statesman is sure to enjoy The Joy of Politics, with its hilarious romps through the corridors of power.

No two shows are ever the same, with jokes updated daily according to the news, so make sure you make the most of its three week run in Croydon.

Sutton Amateur Dramatic Club take on the popular tales by Flora Thompson.

Lark Rise is a snapshot of life in a late Victorian village seen through the eyes of a young girl, Laura.

Ben Mills

Friday, November 13

X Factor finalist Ben Mills is performing with his band in Sutton this week.

Ben will be helping to raise money for a charity trek along the Great Wall of China, organised by his aunt and three of her friends.

X Factor viewers will know Ben for his performances on the show of songs like Maggie May and Somebody to Love.

An Evening of French Music

Croydon Philharmonic Choir perform an evening of music by Fauré.

The programme includes his famous Requiem and Masques et Bergamasques, as well as a selection of his songs.

East Surrey Choral Society Autumn Concert

The choir celebrate four famous composers, Purcell, Handel, Haydn and Mendelssohn.

Also including works by Schubert and Vaughan Williams, and with soloists from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Piano Recital

Piano concert performed by Sasha Grynyuk, 2008 winner of the Gold Medal at London's Guildhall School.

Radio 4's female double act Faultless and Torrance play everyone in the Dumas classic.

A series of ridiculous plot twists, physical comedy, swordfights and bad moustaches make for an energetic play.

St Peter's Choir and Friends

The choir put on a concert followed by a cream tea.

There will also be a chance to hear the new Makin digital organ at the concert.

The Music Man

Tuesday, November 17 until Saturday, November 21

Travelling salesman Harold Hill comes to a small town in Iowa in 1912.

Harold has fallen in love with the librarian and convinces the town not only that he is a professor, but that if they don't adopt his music programme their children will be doomed.

Including songs such as Goodnight My Someone and Til There Was You, and performed by Oxted Operatic Society.

Take a step back in time this Tuesday lunchtime with a 16th and 17th century-themed concert.

Plumstead Recorder Consort and Bill Tuck will be performing music and dance from the period in authentic costume.

Snow White on Ice

You know it's heading towards Christmas when a ballet on ice show is in town.

The Russian Ice Stars perform the Brothers Grimm's classic tale in a jaw-dropping show.

Ballet, gymnastics, juggling and skating combine to make this entertaining show.

The Wizard of Oz

Local group WWOS perform the beloved children's tale The Wizard of Oz.

Follow Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion down the yellow brick road to the Emerald City.

This musical includes the songs We're Off to See the Wizard, If I Only Had a Brain and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Fever

The song Fever is certainly a popular one with musicians - since it was written in 1956 there have been over 400 cover versions.

Dance company MIKS have created five different dance responses to the song based on the many different versions.
