Trinity School through to quarter-finals
THE director of rugby at Trinity School in Croydon has hailed the school's U15s team for reaching the quarter-finals of the Daily Mail RBS Schools U15s Cup, writes Robert Warlow.
The side beat St Benedict's School in Ealing 12-5 in the seventh round of the competition last Thursday to set up a quarter-final with Bedford Modern School.
And Aaron Liffchak said he was extremely proud of the boys.
He said: "It was a fantastic game and they followed the game plan to a tee.
"They put their bodies on the line and the defence was fantastic."
Four kicks from Jack Thomson saw Trinity home, with St Benedict's only able to break through the stubborn defence once for a try.
Liffchak added: "It would have been a fantastic final.
"Both teams were very good and there weren't too many mistakes."
Trinity were due to play their quarter-final against Bedford Modern yesterday (Thursday) and Liffchak said he was hoping his Trinity side could make it through to be one step away from a potential final at Twickenham.
He said: "I do really believe they can make it and it would be nothing less than they deserve."
Liffchak added that he did not know much about Trinity's quarter-final opponents, but he said: "We are relishing the challenge."
