Corinthian Casuals 1 Whyteleafe 2

AFTER conceding a few late winners recently, Whyteleafe scored one of their own last Saturday to see off Corinthian Casuals.

Fred Fleming scored it with a header in the final minute to give Stuart Massey's side a deserved three points.

Casuals had the better of the early exchanges and after a mix-up in the visitors' defence, Glen Boosey's shot hit the bar.

Leafe's first chance came midway through the half when Mark Hammond's 25-yard free-kick forced goalkeeper Luke Naughton in a good save low down at the near post. Leon McDowell, Robbie Kember and Sam Butler all went close as the first half ended.

The visitors were gaining control of the game and eventually took the lead on 69 minutes when Butler went on a great run from the half way line and shot inside the far post from 20 yards.

Daniel Platel had two efforts saved by Naughton and at the other end Boosey had two headers kept out by Rob O'Hara, the second a brilliant stop.

Casuals equalised in the 85th minute when a free-kick from Kane Sergeant was converted from close range by Wayne Finnie.

But Leafe had the last word and from Mark Hammond's corner, Fleming rose above the defence to head into the corner of the net.

Whyteleafe: O'Hara, Fleming, Wilson, Platel, R Coleman, Royston (D Coleman), Hammond, Kember, McDowell, Goodchild, Butler.
