TRAGIC: The crash that killed Mr Cullen
The man who died when his car collided with a bus has been named as William Cullen.
The 22-year-old from Bromley was killed on Saturday, at the junction of Croydon Road and Tannery Close, near the Croydon-Bromley border in Elmers End, at around 3.25pm.
Paramedics, including those with an air ambulance, and firefighters rushed to the scene.
They found a man - believed to be the driver of the car - trapped in his vehicle, following the collision with the 327 bus, travelling to West Croydon.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination was held at the Princess Royal University Hospital today (Monday) and gave the cause of death as serious head injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Catford Traffic Garage on 020 8285 1574.

“this boy was a very good friend of mine and while we have some people saying that the car was in the hands of someone so young leads me to believe that you have no heart, there is no way of explaining this but comments like that are useless now and if people insist on having an opinion please just remember we have lost an amazing lad from our lives!!”

“As a RAC patrolman and later a Accident recovery driver, 3am is the worst time at night for accidents. It is easy to forget to signal or to take caution as the roads are quieter. It is sad that my nephews friend was killed in this accident, but how come when todays cars are supposed to be safer. It is easy to blame someone, the only hope is that honesty will provail and the road will be improved with a mini roundabout that will slow down the traffic. As this is a very busy road this maybe not in the plan for the area. It is owed to the lad for an improvement to the road. Its about time we started putting up accident black spot signs again. before we went all european we had these on places where there were deaths or serious accidents. Having moved to the countryside they place flowers at the side of the road, the sight of these does make people notice an area of danger and drive carefully. We also have signs warning of the number of deaths and injuries per month on that road. I hope the council take note of this and act responsibily.”

“The young boy who died is my best friends brother. Those who mattered to Will know exactly how the accident happened. It was no ones fault, it was just an unfortunate accident. This is someones life that has been lost, please do not pass blame, or make judgement.
RIP W J Cullen
