Weekend market plan to boost community
AN INNOVATIVE resident believes she has come up with a way of bringing a bit of fun back into the streets of one town neighbourhood.
Shelley Corridon has lived in Croydon for the past two decades and said she thinks something new is needed to bring "life" back into the area she lives now – Addiscombe.
The 61-year-old has written to the council with what she believes is the answer – a Sunday street market to entice people to the area.
"We are missing something in Addiscombe. It is dead around some parts at times and I think that is a shame, a lot can be done with this area," she explained.
"I think a Sunday market down Cherry Orchard Road would be a brilliant idea and I have been surprised by the amount of positive responses I have got from people when I have put the idea about."
Ms Corridon, who lives in nearby Lebanon Road, said the idea came to her while she was touring the area on her pedal bike.
She said: "I have ridden around London and I see how successful the Sunday markets are in different places and how many people come out to support them and mooch around, and I really think that could work here."

“I like this idea and hope Shelley Gets the go ahead,
I'm always at a loss on Sundays, so I'd pop up to look around.
Good Luck.”
