Wilbraham to add a 'physical presence' to attack
AARON Wilbraham will add a "physical presence" to the Eagles attack, according to Dougie Freedman.
The 32-year-old joined the Eagles on Wednesday on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract after his 18-month spell with Norwich City recently came to an end.
His arrival at Selhurst Park has been the subject of much speculation over the summer, but Palace have now landed their man, who brings with him experience of playing at the top level, having scored in all four tiers of the Football League.
And Freedman said the former MK Dons striker, who scored two goals in 28 appearances for the Canaries, will be a valuable addition to the squad at Selhurst Park.

He said: "He is somebody that we really like.
"I feel he could add a physical presence [up front], which maybe we didn't have enough of [last year]."
Freedman added that the experienced Knutsford-born frontman, who has also played for Stockport County, Oldham Athletic, Bradford City and Hull City, would also play an important role in helping the younger players at the club progress.
He said: "We have got some good young players coming through and some good young players with mobility.
"I just feel that [Aaron] will add a bit of strength in that area."
Wilbraham, who has scored 100 career league goals, becomes the third arrival at Palace this summer, following on from defenders Joel Ward and loanee Aaron Martin, who joined from Portsmouth and Southampton respectively.

“petetheeagle,
do you actually go to any Palace games?
Answer these questions, will Wilbraham get us 20 goals this season?
Will Easter or Murray?
Freedman has bought Wilbraham, so McCarthy can hoof the ball up to him.
petetheagle, you have told us you don`t do facts, but the facts are we have so called strikers at the club, Murray, Easter & Wilbraham, that couldn`t hit a cows **** with a banjo.
petetheeagle, have you seen Wilbraham play, who told you he is a team player who can link midfield to attack, he is a forward, not a prolific 1, he is cheap, just the sort of player Freedman & Parish like.
petetheeagle, why was Calvin Andrew released by Freedman, you have gone very quiet over the subject of Andrew, the player you & Luis from the village rated so highly.”

“Lee, with respect mate how can you judge Wilbraham when he has never kicked a ball for the club.
According to reports, he is a team player, is strong, has vast experience and can link midfield to attack and that was sorely missing last season.”

“Gentlemen,
it is all well & good letting the likes of Gardner & Ambrose, the so called big earners at the club, leave, but who are you going to replace them with?
Ambrose 124 games, 38 goals & 26 assists proves to anyone with any sense & knowledge about football, that he is a `luxury` that would get into any Championship side, managed by a decent manager, somebody like Neil Warnock, that certainly brought the best out of Ambrose.
The team faltered after the gutless performance at Cardiff, yes we had lots of injuries to key players, but that only proved how weak our squad was & surely this proved to Parish & Co, how much the squad needed investing in, the youngsters came in & did brilliantly, O`Keefe in particular, held his own in the holding role.
Gardner should`ve have been kept, he is more reliable than McCarthy, another centre half should`ve been signed to play along side Gardner.
The jury is out on Scannell, personally i think he should`ve been kept, he will do a good job for Huddersfield, why don`t the club come clean & tell us how much they sold him for, peanuts i presume, just like if they sell Ambrose for £250k.
The team & squad needed a little tinker, the defense needed a decent right back to replace Clyne, another centre half, a decent Midfielder, somebody like Danny Murphy for a season or 2, but Parish will not pay decent wages, hence Gardner leaving & a bloody decent forward, the likes of Wilbraham, Easter & Murray are not the answer to our problems upfront.
Nice to see you back, Peter & very nice of the Guvnor of Broadmoor to give you early Parole.”

“Ok Pete you will obviouly have a smile on your face if Ambrose does go. But it also looks likely that Zaha and Clyne will go this summer as well.
That is a lot of Palace quality Pete so what happens next.”

“Hi Lofty
Unfortunately, sadly, Scannell has never lived up to his potential,If only Dougie got to him sooner. Warnock did not give him the proper coaching that requred. Gardner was only after the money and who knows could he stay injury free next time!!
Last season we got Parr, Jedi, the emergence of Jonny Williams and O,keefe. I think Dougie has done well apart from the sighing of KG which was a poor one.”

“Yes Rambo, I understand that but there other players with experience that can help and bring on the youngsters. Jedi, who was having a terrific second half of the season until his injury, Paddy, Wright and Wilbraham.
In my opinion Ambrose will not be missed. Yes I agree I think he should have been played behind the striker but Dougie put him out wide for a reason. Many a time He would come inside which left the full back exposed and the team would lose it's shape.
I think it's a brave decision that management have taken and like I said with a year left on his contract, an amount of around £1 million can be put to a better use.”

“Luis, congratulations on your best input ever and welcome back Pete the Eagle.
The whole point is, its alright selling your best Players, Gardner, Scannell and now possibly Ambrose.
But you have to replace with better; it is suicidal to replace your top Players with the Youngsters.
I agree with Lee, I would be pleased if Parish and Co sell up and clear off and take Freedman with them. Ok they saved the Club but are slowly dragging the Club down to a level to before they took over.
I don't ever want to hear Parish banging on about Promotion because this lot have shown no intention to do so.

“According to the South London Press, Palace have accepted a offer of £250,000 for Ambrose from Birmingham.
If that is the case then Parish & co, could not run a bath.
Let`s hope it`s just speculation, but if they sell Ambrose for peanuts, £250k, that is an insult to the fans & proves the owners are clueless & lack ambition, they should sell up to someone who will take the club forward.”
