"We would like to thank Wilf for all he has done for the club and we all wish him well when he joins Manchester United in the summer.

"It was essential to Wilf and ourselves that he stayed at Palace for the remainder of this season to help the club with its main aim of promotion to the Premier League."

Zaha added: "I am delighted to be joining Manchester United and ending the recent speculation.

"I would like to thank the owners at Palace for making the move possible, however my focus for the next five months will be solely at Crystal Palace.

"I have been at Palace for more than 10 years, I will always love the club and I want to help get them get back to the Premier League, particularly for the fans who have always been so good to me."

“Sharpeyed, "remains to be seen" is the only sense you have made. Zaha is a special talent and was never going to be ours forever. I don't think they WANTED to sell him now.

Do you realise that those "asset strippers" (YOUR words not mine) have not only invested millions from their own pocket, but are palace fans through and through. They deserve credit for securing such a big deal - compare this to the sale of Moses to Wigan and see how far we have come.

Give them a chance and judge them at the end of the transfer window. Last summer I and other palace fans on here were annoyed with the sales of Ambrose and Scannell, yet look how much better our team became after adding Moritz, Delaney, Bolasie, Wilbraham, Ward.

Being realistic is one thing but you seem to be really pessimistic.”

“It remains to be seen how much of the Zaha fee the asset strippers running Palace will recycle for new players,by betting is not much .
They will probably bring in a couple of journey men who have seen their best days behind them or some whiz kid with` potential ' from the lower league. The ownership are no doubt thinking... who is next to bring them big bucks ?
Holloway`s attitude to how the club is being run will be interesting,as the club fall away from promotion.
Cynical,no just seeing how it is”
