FAMOUS VISITOR: William Hague (centre), with Gavin Barwell (far left), Trinity politics teacher Robert Paler (far right) and some of the students
William Hague was the latest in a long line of high-profile politicians to visit a Shirley school last Tuesday.
The former Tory leader and current shadow foreign secretary spoke to an attentive audience at Trinity Boys School.
Mr Hague discussed the immediate and long-term challenges facing the next government.
He then fielded questions on topics including equipping our armed forces, university admission policies and the selection of party candidates.
A school spokesman said: "Political awareness at Trinity has rocketed, thanks to recent visits such as this one.
"We've hosted a variety of politicians including Tony Benn (the former Labour MP), Gavin Barwell (Conservative candidate for Croydon Central), and Andrew Pelling (independent MP for Croydon Central).
"It was a very successful evening."
