“I do agree with holtby4. I went to Croydon yesterday for just over two hours.First stop Boots where I failed to buy what I needed, out of stock. In the next shop after much pondering I bought a dress and bolero but the underwear I wanted wasn't in stock in my size and colour. I went into MacDonalds where the assistant couldn't understand English, and then went back to the car park (Whitgift). This cost us £6 parking. I went home and finished my shopping on line (same retailers) wondering why I had bothered to go into town.Today I went to John Lewis, Hobby craft, Homebase and then the Co-Op where I found everything I wanted and all parking was free.In the last week I have bought various things online, spending nearly £400 and have paid less than £6 delivery charges. Unless Croydon brings in a system whereby the more you spend in the shops the less you pay for parking, I don't see why I should go there.”

“From the MetroActing upon retail guru Mary Portas's assessment of UK high streets, the government has announced which of the 370 destinations that applied to be part of the scheme have been chosen to receive part of a £1.2 million regeneration fund and tailored support from shopping experts. As well as Croydon and Stockport, Bedford, Margate, Nelson, Newbiggin by the Sea, Wolverhampton, Stockton on Tees, Dartford, Liskeard, Bedminster and Market Rasen were selected.By my calculation £1.2M fund across 12 towns = around £100,000 each.”

“Have to agree with both comments and the post, Croydon has gone down hill,Too exspensive to park... Most things out of stock...colour and size. It's like we are getting what is left over from other stores, Last week I was in M&S looking for leggings and they had none ! Basic Clothing Not availible is nonsense. Then Got Charged £6.00 parking for what was meant to be a pop in and out shop.....I will be going elsewhere from now on. Sad, Croydon Used to be the Place to go, But not now....:(”
