“I Have been Told Off Line that Car is in the hands of the counsil now, So it has Nothing to do with ACA. But even so, I still thought it was Village Green. And thats why Tesco could not build. Yes I remember the Jokes Donkey AKA Meaty, and Ivor. But the Question is still there.”

“This car park has always belonged to the Council, but was run by the ACA.
Since the dispute with the market traders, the ACA have taken to closing the car park till lunchtime on a Tuesday and Friday to prohibit said traders parking there (though unfortunately this stopped everyone else having access too).
We believe, in an effort to align all New Addington car parks to operate the same, this has now been made pay and display.
The Village Green, at present, covers basically only the grassed areas of the west side of Central Parade. The further application being considered at present seeks to include all car parks and access roads to also be classed as Village Green. Hope that explains it ok tbabygib :)”

“No problem tbabygib, Pathfinders aim is always to be fair, accurate and respectful of all peoples views. In this respect, just after Christmas, we will be offering as many residents and regular visitors to New Addington the chance to vote on the 2nd Village Green application - whether they are for, or against it.
We will be canvassing as widely as possible around the estate and on market days, and letters will also be available in the Octagon building for anyone who wishes to visit and register their agreement/opposition to this latest application.”

“So, Pathfinders, Last question on this (hopefully!) The Car parks and slip roads, If they are Voted as a Village Green, Does that mean that No building would be allowed there? and would that mean that the Parade would Always stay the same? And Who would own it the Council or the public? Sorry, that was more than 1 But, you know how it is. :)”

“tbabygib - we never tire of providing info so informed choices can be made!
If made Village Green it would mean most certainly that there would never be a supermarket - or any building not for community use, of any size to be built there. You could also not change the positioning of any of the buildings there now so, for instance, if the Library began to deteriorate badly and need re-building - it would have to be closed, raised to the ground and re-built in exactly the same place. No building could be made any bigger or it would encroach on the Village Green.
The Council will still own the land, but has to respect it's Village Green status. While it's great to have open spaces protected - Pathfinders worry that the latest application halts any future regeneration at all, though we are mindful that others may not agree. Hope this helps :)”
“I went to The ACA in New Addington today, To pop into the library, Only to find there are Now PARKING METERS there.! It Was free parking last night now We have to Pay! Why? I thought it was part of the the Village Green?”
