Episode of ITV drama The Bill filmed at Selhurst school

Wednesday, March 18, 2009, 10:19

Pupils have been back at Selhurst School - but they were all actors filming an upcoming episode of police drama The Bill.

The school, in The Crescent, was closed last summer , a victim of its lack of popularity with Croydon parents.

Producers of the ITV cop show took advantage of the fact it has been lying empty ever since to film scenes there last month.

The episode featuring the school will be broadcast on Wednesday April 8.

The plot sees PC Nate Roberts (actor Ben Richards) appointed as safety officer for the fictional Deansgate Comprehensive.

But he soon clashes with a teacher over how problems at the school should be tackled.

Producers say they hope the episode will highlight the pressures that exist in modern schools for teachers, children, parents and police.
