07:00 - 24-July-2008

Plans to rid Broad Green of one of its most prominent eyesores are being given a guarded welcome.

The Half Moon pub in London Road has been shut for around five years and is now derelict.

But the site will be transformed if developers Zinca Ltd get planning permission to pull it down and replace the pub with a new three-to- six-storey building of new homes.

The proposals involve providing 25 two-bedroom, 19 one-bedroom and nine three-bedroom flats.

The scheme also includes shops and an area set aside for community use.

Parking for 32 cars and 77 cycle spaces forms part of the overall development,

The developers have also included proposals for roof gardens in the planto provide green space for residents to enjoy.
