Warnock: No contract talks yet

Eagles boss Neil Warnock will delay all contract extension talks with his current playing staff.

Calvin Andrew, Lee Hills, Shaun Derry, Matt Lawrence and Danny Butterfield are all out of contract next summer.

Palace skipper Derry has already expressed his desire to stay in south London and is eager to begin talks over a new contract.

But Warnock has told the Advertiser that initiating talks with his out-of-contract players is not at the forefront of his mind.

He said: “I’m not even thinking about talking to players about new contracts.

"The only thing I’m thinking about is bringing in a new striker.”

Nevertheless, the manager will be keen to secure the futures of his key men after losing the club’s top-goalscorers – Clinton Morrison and Shefki Kuqi – in each of the past two seasons on free transfers.
