It is not uncommon to see a car slapped with a parking ticket in Croydon.

But it is perhaps unusual to see a vehicle given a ticket when it is in the road like this.

This photograph was taken by an Advertiser reader in Outram Road, Addiscombe, on Wednesday at about 3pm.

The reader said: "I jumped out of my car hoping to do someone a good deed.

"It looked like his handbrake had failed to keep the car on the drive in front.

"The small slope behind was enough to send it sliding backwards – enough to stick out into the street.

"I thought I would knock on some doors along the road and alert somebody that their car had rolled into the road.

"I couldn't find who the car belonged to and instead I spotted a parking fine on the windscreen.

"I couldn't believe a traffic warden had decided to slap a ticket on the car when it appeared an innocent mistake."
