Snippets this year include Tom Cruise hinting that he'll play Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder again.
The Hollywood megastar - who was nominated for a prize for his performance as the balding, foul-mouthed character - stopped on the red carpet and said he and Ben Stiller were considering bringing the character back in some other format.
"More is Les? I don't know. We'll see. We keep talking about maybe doing something for the internet," said Tom. "We really haven't had a moment to talk about it thoroughly but it would be fun."
Grabbing a few minutes with some of Hollywood's big players was also at the top of some people's agendas - and it's unlikely anybody felt that as much as Steven Spielberg. So many people stopped the filmmaker to say hi he barely made it to his seat before the cameras started rolling.
But he wasn't the only person who cut it fine - Brad Pitt led Angelina Jolie in by the hand with less than two minutes before showtime.
Spirits were high among the winners, with The Wrestler star Mickey Rourke enjoying being back in the spotlight as he held court on the smoking patio, happily posing for photos while puffing on a Marlboro red.
