Gangs

There's an interesting debate going on here about our story on the gang members posing with guns on Youtube.

Some readers don't think we should have run the story at all, others think we most certainly should have done while the third view is that we should have reported it but not named the gang involved.

There's merit in all the arguments - although I'm obviously in agreement with the second one.

There was one simple reason why I had no doubt about printing the full details - the story comes weeks after police had claimed to have succesfully got rid of the gang in question, and that does not seem to be the case.

While I'm on the subject of not shooting the messenger, a story on one of our sister titles in Essex about a pensioner being killed by a freak fire in his pants (you can read the details for yourself) has caused a bit of controversy here.
