Tucked away like the Secret Garden, Chai Corner provides an oasis of calm in the midst of a busy shopping centre.

Hidden downstairs in Allders, this cosy restaurant is the perfect place to put down the heavy bags, rest your feet and refuel.

Whether you need to satisfy a rumbling tummy or you're gasping for a cup of green tea, this handy eatery has everything a peckish shopper could want.

One of our dear colleagues was leaving, so we decided to spend lunch reminiscing and eating out somewhere new.

Because of its hidden location, we had never visited Chai Corner before – and it turns out we had truly been missing out.

With a glorious mixture of hot Indian food, cold salads, sandwiches and traditional English grub, there is something on the menu for everyone here.

The three of us opted for a platter of tasty Indian Mezze to start with.

We shared gorgeous vegetable samosas and onion bhajis which very much got us in the mood for our delicious main course.

Classic curry dishes followed the starters along with portions of naan bread and egg fried rice.

Choosing three different curry dishes to dip into was ideal for three friends so we could all try a bit of everything.

Chicken korma, a spicy chickpea recipe and a chicken tikka were laid in front of our hungry eyes with a couple of rice bowls and two huge naans.

Each comforting dish was full of flavour and the different textures were delightful.

And to top it all off, we each enjoyed a reviving cup of tea.

This unusual cafe offers a variety of Britain's favourite drink and it is definitely worth a visit even if a special cuppa is all you're looking for.

From a distinguished Earl Grey to an exotic mango tea, there are many exciting drinks to choose from.

Full English and continental breakfasts are served for those looking for a hearty start to the day, and sandwiches are on the menu for people looking for a quick, tasty snack.

Classic egg and cress, cheese, onion and pickle and tuna and cucumber sarnies are on the menu along with items such as hot jacket spuds with a variety of toppings .

One of the best things about this comfy eatery is that its prices are good too!

Now you know where it is go and see for yourselves.
