Beleaguered Croydon MP Andrew Pelling continues comeback

The Tory MP made a tentative return to the Houses of Parliament in May and June when he voted in two crucial debates on abortion and anti-terror legislation.
And yesterday, he spoke in a debate on the dwindling availability of allotments in the UK.
He told the chamber: “In Croydon, only 200 people are on the waiting list, but the list is closed.
“In some cases, the numbers greatly underestimate the demand for allotment provision.”
Apart from this however, Mr Pelling has rarely made his presence felt in Westminster's corridors of power.
At the start of the year, he announced he was taking leave of duty to receive treatment for clinical depression.
This followed a harrowing few months, during which he was arrested after his pregnant wife accused him of assault, and temporarily suspended from the Conservative party.
He was allowed back into the Tory fold after the police investigation was dropped - but only after he agreed not to stand at the next General Election.
Since January his constituency casework has been handled by Croydon South MP Richard Ottaway, his Parliamentary staff and more recently by Tory councillor Gavin Barwell - who will be contesting his seat in his place at the next election.
