Sanderstead vicar welcomes women bishops

The vicar wrote of his participation in the church's main conference, the general Synod, last month, in the Parish of Sanderstead newsletter.
He detailed the votes of the Synod and the impassioned pleas by some in the church to refuse to allow women to become bishops.
He remarked: "For me, and for many on both sides, it is clear which direction we are headed.
"That clarity will cause joy and relief for some and pain for a minority as the Church of England moves towards women bishops.
"I rejoice that women can now answer the call of God to apostolic ministry in the church."
