Explore Croydon's past during open weekend

Sunday, August 24, 2008, 07:00

Historic Croydon buildings dating from the 13th century will be on display to the public next month.

A rare peep is being offered inside some of the town's fascinating buildings.

These include Airport House on the Purley Way which was one of the first purpose-built terminal buildings in the world and Shirley Windmill, the only surviving windmill in the borough.

A walking tour entitled 'Welcome to SuperCroydon' will also take place, similar to an event held last year.

The event is being held on the weekend of September 20 and 21.

For more information visit the website www.openhouse.org.uk or call the information line on 09001 600 061.

Calls will be charged at 60p per minute.
