The Crown, in Wickham Road, now boasts an "old fashioned" look after the nine-day spruce-up, last month.
Brenda Williamson, pub manager, applauded the new look, which she says has already lured back long-lost punters.
"We've had fantastic feedback from our customers and we've even had people who haven't been in the pub in years," she said.
"These days we have to find ways to entice the drinkers back that we've lost through the smoking ban.
"We've given it a really old fashioned feel, with smaller tables for people who come in on their own, and nice brown colouring.
"I joined the pub during the refurbishment period and it's a very exciting time for me.
"I'm really looking forward to my time here."
The pub, which reopened on July 30, now boasts a series of "zones", each with subtle differences in décor and furnishing to match the customers' different moods.
Throughout the premises, the design combines warm tones with feature fireplaces, a mixture of leather and wooden furnishings and carefully selected pieces of art and bric-a-brac.
Beverley is looking forward to seeing lots of new faces
She said: "The idea is to remind people of their homes, somewhere cosy and where they would want to spend an evening and relax.
"I really do believe we have achieved that. It's a far cry from the old place, that was a little tired and far less appealing."
