Marcus Wareing's Petrus restaurant now leads Restaurant Gordon Ramsay - the television celebrity's flagship eatery - in the top price category of the Harden's London Restaurants 2009 guide.
Last year the celebrity chef's restaurant held on to the best food and service titles in the £80-plus category despite losing its best overall rating to Petrus.
This year Petrus held on to the overall title as well as claiming the food and service categories.
The guide says: "For the first time this millennium, London has a clear new best restaurant at the top end of the market."
The guide is based on feedback from more than 8,000 regular restaurant-goers.
The latest rankings follow Wareing launching a bitter attack on his former mentor last month, saying he could not care less if the two never spoke again.
Wareing dismissed Ramsay as a celebrity chef, declaring that he is out to seize his crown as Britain's most celebrated culinary talent.
He told Waitrose Food Illustrated: "If I never speak to that guy again in my life it wouldn't bother me one bit."
