Central Croydon birthday tribute to Sally Anne

Thursday, August 21, 2008, 20:59

Balloons will be released in central Croydon on Thursday September 11 to mark what would have been Sally Anne Bowman's 21st birthday.

The event has been organised outside Allders, in North End, as a tribute to the model and her family.

Sally Anne was stabbed to death in South Croydon, on September 25, 2005.

Pub chef Mark Dixie, 37, was sentenced to life imprisonment at the Old Bailey in February after being found guilty of murdering Sally Anne.

Dixie was told at his sentencing he will serve a minimum of 34 years for stabbing Sally Anne to death before having sex with her corpse outside her home in Blenheim Crescent.

The event is being organised by friends of Sally Anne's on the Facebook website, and is supported by the Bowman family.

The balloons will be pink and more than 1,000 people are expected to attend the event.
