A teacher accused of stabbing his parents to death at his family home in South Croydon has had a provisional date set for his trial in April.

Daniel Dighton, 34, allegedly killed dad Barry and mum Elizabeth at their maisonette in Campden Road, south Croydon.

The bodies of the 61 year-old retired headmaster and his wife, a nursery teacher, were found on September 30 last year.

Dighton, who taught English in Thailand, has yet to enter a plea to the crime he is accused of.

He was expected to appear in court for a plea and case management hearing today (Friday).

But this has been adjourned for two weeks after the prison authorities failed to bring him to the Old Bailey in central London because of heavy snowfall.

Judge Stephen Kramer QC set a provisional trial date of April 12 this year, although this will depend on what plea Dighton enters.

Dighton, of Campden Road, South Croydon, was remanded in custody.

Barry Dighton was head of private Elmhurst School for Boys in South Croydon until his retirement.
