It left Sandra Baleera, who was admitted just after midnight and given a diuretic for her haemorrhoids, helpless.
After being given the medicine she was going to the toilet regularly and without any paper spent the next few hours soaked in her own excrement.
She felt so dirty that she threw away her nightdress when she returned home.
The distraught 57-year old from South Norwood has refused to ever return to Mayday.
She said: "I was crying. I had piles and the diuretic made it messy and I had nothing to wipe with.
"That's how I was forced to go home."
Mayday said it apologised "if there was a delay" in replacing toilet roll but said most people would understand the situation as it was a busy A&E department.
Ms Baleera, who is unemployed through sickness, notified the nurses on duty about the situation at 1.30am.
She was told some would be brought within half an hour, but it did not arrive until about 6am despite repeated requests.
Ms Baleera later told nurses she would like to clean herself up but was told there were no facilities available and was forced to remain in a state until her son collected her at 7.40am.
She said: "The nurse manager apologised but it's a terrible, horrible place. I wouldn't go there again."
A spokesman for Mayday said: "Most of the time the supplies would be sufficient to cover the needs of patients, visitors and staff.
"It is not impossible that we could run out, but it would be very rare.
"If toilet roll runs out in any particular toilet and this is mentioned to staff, it shouldn't take long to replenish them.
"If there was a delay on this occasion then we apologise for that.
"It is possible that there may be a delay if staff were particularly busy but I am sure most people would understand this in an environment like A&E."
