Five Year Plan editor James Daly has just one wish this Christmas...

Dear Santa,

First of all let me start off by saying that I love that you haven't changed your image despite undoubted pressure from sponsors and PR companies. The red suit and white trim is a classic look, stick with it. Much like Crystal Palace's sexy red and blue strip (OK they changed it in 1974 from claret and light blue to scarlet and royal blue. Happy?)

Anyway, I'm writing to you this year after decades of no correspondence. I can only apologise for that but to be honest, I wanted and needed little. OK, except perhaps slightly larger biceps and the ability to travel through space and time, but really those would have been luxuries.

And as a Palace fan there wasn't really much I wanted. Yes a few points here and there would have helped, maybe the chance to sign some Premier League quality players would have been great at points, but generally the roller coaster ride that is supporting the Eagles is enough for any man.

Yet this year I am writing to you for help. I want something, nay NEED something, for Christmas, and I'm sure every other Palace fan would agree with me. In fact, I'm sure it's the number one asked-for thing from Eagles' supporters this year. What we need is something so important, so unequivocally massive that I'm a bit afraid to ask for it. And yet, I can guarantee it will being joy to south London and give thousands of Palace fans a peaceful, enjoyable Christmas.

See what I want is for us to PLEASE beat Millwall on New Year's Eve. We haven't beaten them for yonks and they really are quite horrid when it comes to Palace. Some of the stick they give us is very much not in keeping with the Christmas spirit. Even a few weeks ago we played them at home and couldn't win despite having a penalty (which we missed). The balance of football, power, love and respect needs to be restored.

Please let us win!

Yours in desperation,

James
